Four races on the Châtillon trails and a series of other sports and entertainment events to turn a competition into an authentic skyrunning festival. Just over twenty days to go before the third edition of the Monte Zerbion Skyrace and Vertical, scheduled for Saturday 18 May.
The organisation has once again planned a series of initiatives along the route leading to the Zerbion and in the area of the start and finish village. Accompanying the ride of the athletes, coming from Austria, Brazil, Estonia, Russia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, the United States and Switzerland, will be the music of the folkloric groups of the Aosta Valley, starting with the Click of Saint-Martin-de-Corléans, which will perform in Piazza Volontari del Sangue. At the end of the event, the Monte Zerbion party with djset, toasts and the traditional mordùa, a typical snack based on local products, which will also be served at the refreshment points at high altitude.
The races around the Zerbion, created to enhance the area and dust off one of the paths that launched the skyrunning champions, have always been synonymous with fun and inclusion. Since the first edition, in fact, trials reserved for young people and the disabled have been added.
Format and space for all also on 18 May, when disabled competitors will be able to run the 5.5-kilometre vertical (850 metres D+), for the first time open to all. Children will have fun in the Baby Skyrace of 500 metres for the under-8s and 1 kilometre for the under-11s. And then the Randò enogastronomic, for those who want to walk around Châtillon, without giving up some tasty breaks. No time trial, 5 kilometres without any worries, passing by Passerin d’Entrèves castle, Châtillon church, Châtillon municipality, honey museum (ex Hôtel Londres), Count Luda house, Chameran village, École Hôtelière de la Vallée d’Aoste, Gamba castle, Madonna delle Grazie chapel, Ponte Romano and Cva headquarters.
Confirmed, in addition to the 5.5-kilometre race (stage of the Coppa Italia Giovani), is also the 9.5-kilometre vertical with arrival at the summit of the Zerbion. It will award the first Jean Pellissier Memorial and will be valid for the VK Open Championships. There will be two Skyraces, the 18 and 22 kilometres (Vicquéry memorial and trial of the Crazy Skyrunning Italy Cup Fisky).
Registrations continue at full speed and are still open on Wedosport.
